Rods List

To: Anglers and Rod Collectors,

The following rods are offered for your fishing and/or collecting pleasure. The definitions of the rods are subjective, therefore, we offer a 5 day inspection period. All rods have bags and tubes unless otherwise noted.

Abbreviations

1. 2/1 - 2 piece, 1 tip

2. 3/2 - 3 piece, 2 tips

3. C&R - Cap and sliding ring

4. Blued - Hardware oxidized blue or black

5. U/L - Up-locking reel seat

6. D/L - Down-locking reel seat

Conditions

1. NEW - Apparently new rod.

2. SUPERIOR - Museum quality rod.

3. EXCELLENT - Near new condition.

4. VERY GOOD - As excellent, but with minor dings.

5. GOOD - Average use- needs some work to bring up to excellent.

6. RESTORED - refinished to original specifications.

1. Baby Catskill, 6’, 3/2, 4 wt. Custom made in 1971 for C..Foreman, an executive of UPS. Very rare rod. EXC $2300

3. Model 38L, 7”, 2/2, 3/4 wt ., SN 1801, C&R nickel silver as are the ferrules. All guides black. Wraps red with light green tipping on hook keeper- means Light line rod. Very rare rod. EXC $2200

105. Leonard,48DF, 7’, 3/2, green tipping on the tan wraps of the winding check-indicates lightweight. A pre fire rod. Original tube, bag and hanging tag. A very rare rod in nearly perfect condition. SUP $2200

16. Model 49, 71/2’, 3/2, 5 wt., 4 oz. Prefire wraps are Tan with green tiipping. DL. The reel seat, as on the tube, has the initials “RTT, Feb. 1965” Original bag with hanging tab and tube. EXC $2100

109.Duracane 7 ½”,2/2, 4 to 5 wt. Impregnated cane, brown green tipping. Model “Catoctin Special”. SN 9310. Named after a mountain range in Western Maryland. EXC $1100

19. Model 50DF, 8’, 3/2, 5 wt. Pre fire, patent pending on the female ferrule-butt section.. EXC $1875

21. Prototype Leonard combination rod. 2 rods: Model 50, 8’, 3/2, and Model 36, 6’, 2/2. The butt, mid and tip makes up the 8’. The mid, tip and separate reel seat makes the 6’. Rod includes 2 butts, 1 mid and 2 tips. Made by Tim Simore and Jack Macovitz in early ‘80s. EXC $1400

22. Model 4099DF Tournament, 8’, 3/2,7 wt. Very few of This model made. Patent pending on female ferrule, pre fire rod. Some water marks on cane. Restored by George Guba, master rod maker. RESTORED $1800

57. Barkley, Ruben. 7’, 3/2, HEH line. Made by well known CA maker in the 50’s. This rod is worth a lot more. EXC $450

58. Detrick, Wyatt, 7’2”, 2/2, ¾ wt. “Little Madison”. Ferrule plug. Well made, hand planed rod by well known PA rod maker. NEW $1500

112. T&T Classic, 7 ½’, 2/2, 5 wt., SN 2400 impregnated. Made by Maxwell & Dorsey in the 60’s. EXC $1425

59. Detrick, Wyatt, 7’6”, 2/2, 4 wt. “Sweet Water” series. A carry on tribute to George Mauer, the “Young Philosopher “ GM Memory DB 101“. Made by a former student of Mauer. Detrick is a well known PA bamboo rod maker. He has made over 350 bamboo rods. NEW $1400

60. Jim Downes, 71/2’ 2/2, SN7613, Trademark 1/8” cork rings . Black ferrules and guides, agate stripper guide, Built by one of the best new generation of PA rod builders. Plastic wrap still on cork handle. Current price; $1395. NEW $975

113.Goodwin Granger “Special”, 7 ½’, 3/2,5/6 wt. Lime green wraps. Metal uplocking reel seat, orig. bag and tube. Bamboo flat has the name of Loren Grey, son of Zane Grey. Letter of provenance included. A difficult rod to find in this length. One of the favorites of the Grangers. EXC $1375

61. Marchetti, 71/2’, 2/2. Well known rod maker from ME. Was contracted as rod maker for LLBean. EXC $550

63. Williams, Robert S. 71/2’, 3/2, 5 wt. Exceptional maker from the MD area. NEW $600

65. T&T. Hendrickson, 71/2’,2/2, 6 wt., SN3012. Made for J.S.Stone in 1977. Swelled butt- one of T&T’s best models. EXC $2350

102. Walton Powell, 7’9”, 2/3, 4/5/6 wt, straw colored cane with oil satin finish. Wood reel seat with gold anodized uplocking. reel seat. Original bag and black crinkle tube with label. EXC $1000

67. F.E.Thomas, Special Fairy Model. 8’, 3/2, 4 wt., interwraps, all cork handle and reel seat. Made for a G.G. Townsend. Classic old school rod made by one of the masters. EXC $1100

68. Thomas and Thomas, Hendrickson. 8’, 2/2, 6 wt. SN2685. Made in the mid 70’s for Roy Superior. EXC $2350

69. R.L. Winston. 8’, 2/3, 4/5 wt. SN8178. Pat. pending, hollow built. The following is a conversation with Winston and Co. representative:“This rod was made in 1958 by Doug Merrick in San Francisco and the writing on the butt section by Lou Stoner. It was originally a 1 tip rod with a carboly stripping guide. A second tip was made 10 to 12 years ago with gold wraps and snake guides”. Has a blue bag with Winston Logo for a 2/1 rod and original tube that has 60% of its decal remaining. SUP $2300

71. Eden Cane. Model 8014. 8’, 2/2, 5 wt. SN 9820. Retail: $3100. NEW $1995

72. Edwards, Quadrate- Model 50. 8’,3/2, 5/6 wt. Cork handle and reel seat. Oxidized cap, sliding band and ferrules on this unmarked Edwards. More than likely, this rod was refinished and white pen marking removed. If it was so marked, the price would be considerably higher. Original bag, replacement tube. EXC $1100

73. Guba, George. 8’, 2/2, 5/6 wt. Made by the well known maker and restorer from NJ. He is an underrated and under priced maker. NEW $670

103.Walton Powell, 8‘3“, 2/2, 5/6 wt. Blond cane w green wraps. Decal on butt says “The Walton Powell Rod”. Rod looks new. The bag is for a 2/1 rod with bright aluminum tube. EXC $960
